According to the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA), a recall is currently in effect for specific batches of Lay’s potato chips due to an undeclared allergen. This recall affects a limited number of Lay’s Classic Potato Chips bags.
The affected bags, weighing 13 ounces, may contain milk, a common allergen. This issue came to light after a customer reported the problem.
These mislabeled chips were distributed to stores in Oregon and Washington and were available for online purchase.
The recalled product can be identified by the UPC code “28400 31041,” a “guaranteed-fresh” date of February 11, 2025, and manufacturing codes “6462307xx” or “6463307xx.”
If you have any bags that match these details, Frito-Lay advises disposing of them immediately.
For refund inquiries or further assistance, you can contact Frito-Lay Consumer Relations at 1-800-352-4477, available Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. CST.
People with milk allergies or lactose intolerance may experience reactions if they consume these chips unknowingly.
Symptoms can range from mild hives to severe anaphylaxis, which may include nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramps, diarrhea, throat tightness, difficulty breathing, and even cardiac arrest.
If you or someone else shows signs of a severe allergic reaction, seek emergency medical help by calling 911 right away.
It’s important to note that no other Lay’s potato chip products are affected by this recall.
