History of City Barbeque
The main mastermind behind the restaurant Rick Malir was raised in Kansas and was living on a farm with his family. He was also the president of the National FFA for a year and was able to witness barbeque for the first time at Kansas State University.
He then acquired a degree in agricultural economics and joined the marketing and dealer development team of John Deere.
However, Deere was aiming to launch a company on his own and he was able to meet the winning BBQ team the Barbeque Boys which included John Kean, Jim Budros, and Mike Taylor.
Malir was eventually able to launch his own company and his collaboration was with Frank Pizzo who was already a popular name in the restaurant industry.
Other team members included Kean, Budros, and Taylor leading to the formation of City Barbeque. The first location of the franchise was launched in Ohio and it was previously a spot for doughnuts.
The opening of the first spot was postponed for a few reasons and Malir also adapted to the process of home delivery so that the business can survive for a long time.
