Roy’s was founded in 1988 by Roy Yamaguchi in Honolulu, Hawaii who was James Beard Foundation Award winner also. He was born in Tokyo, Japan, and spent his childhood with his grandparents who had a tavern in Wailuku, Maui. He was grown up watching his grandparents and graduated from the Culinary Institute of America. Then he opened a restaurant in Honolulu in 1988. In the last few years, his restaurant location on the mainland and sand lake road has been closed. At present, Sunil Dharod is the Chief Executive Officer of Roy’s and the COO is Mario Cernadas. The parent company of Roy’s is United Ohana, LLC.
Roy’s has 6 restaurant locations in the United States, 6 locations in Hawaii, 1 in Japan, and 1 in Guam.
